Simmons who died in Oklahoma City Sunday. Rev. Weeks officiated at the services assisted by Rev. Burns and Rev. Means. Interment was at Carter cemetery. Simmons' death was caused by an after affect of influenza which developed into pneumonia. He was a resident of Sayre in 1910 when he worked as a bookkeeper for Hullum hardware. He held the office of county clerk for two terms after 1913 and it was while he held this office that the offices of county registration and county clerk were combined. In 1917 Simmons left Sayre and went to Oklahoma City where he was deputy state examiner and inspector until last October when he resigned.
