(9 Jun 1904, Thursday, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): DIED. Sunday, June 5, at 2 p.m. Marcus D. Skillman, at his home in Roger Mills County, Okla., as peaceable as a lamb. He was born in Louden Co., Va., November 15, 1827. He was a good christian, became a member of the Baptist church in Virginia in 1853. He leaves a widow and three sons to mourn their loss of a loving and dutiful husband and a loving and tender father. The funeral was preached at the grave by Rev. Brown of Sayre. His friends and neighbors came to see him laid to rest. He was buried at Loneoak cemetery Monday, June 6, at 2:30 p.m. at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 21 days. His death was caused by a rupture of long standing. One son and wife were present when death came to him. He was a good neighbor and a friend to all and was loved by all who knew him. A Friend.
