SLEDGPETH, D. E.
(17 Jan 1929, Thursday, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK):
Pioneer Sayre Hotel Owner Dies At Enid.
D. E. Sledgpeth, pioneer of the plains and former resident and builder of
Sayre, died in Enid December 19.  Sledgpeth was stricken with paralysis
three years ago and never fully recovered.  His death came as the result
of another stroke.
Rev. Roy C. Snodgrass preached the services at the Dunlovey-Homer funeral
home and the remains were interred in the Enid Cemetery.
Sledgepeth is known to many people here as he was one of the early
builders of Sayre.  He built the Sledgpeth Hotel which was the leading
hotel in Sayre at that time.
