Smoot, a farmer, who lives 3 miles northeast of Sayre, died leaving a husband, mother and four children, three boys and one girl, the latter being only ten days old at the death of her mother. The funeral services were conducted last Thursday by Rev. J. C. Gwatkins at the Baptist Church, of which he is pastor, and of which Mrs. Smoot was a member. Mrs. Smoot was Miss Lillie Samuels of Butler, Mo., previous to her marriage and the remains were shipped there for interment. Mrs. Samuels, mother of Mrs. Smoot, arrived from Butler Monday and remained to care for the infant until it is able to be carried back to Mo. Mr. S. T. Smoot moved to this country about six years ago, coming here from Washington, and during his stay here has made many friends, and many are the expressions of sympathy which his loss has called forth. The little ten days old girl is apparently doing good. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
