She was a former citizen of this place but now residing near Elk City. The funeral services were held at the Ural cemetery on Wednesday last. A large host of friends from here attended the funeral. (19 May 1927, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Elsie Waller was born in Posey county, Indiana, in January 1887, and went with her parents to Illinois in 1892. She moved to Oklahoma in 1898, and was married to Claude Teurman eighteen years ago. To this union were born five children, Jewel, David, Alvin, Glen, and Lola Fay. The family resided in Mexico for several months. They spent several years near Elk City and Berlin. The last two years they have been engaged in the mercantile business. Mrs. Teurman's illness was of short duration and everything that medical skill and loving hands could do was done to prolong her life, but to no avail, and she passed away at the Music hospital in Elk City at 5 o'clock on Tuesday evening, April 19, 1927. The body was removed to the Gentry-Killough funeral home and prepared for burial, which was at 2:30 p.m., on Wednesday April 20, at the Kral (sic - Ural) cemetery and was largely attended by her many friends. She was highly respected and loved by all who knew her and will be sadly missed in the community. Rev. Musgrove paid the deceased a high tribute, taking his text from the 14th chapter of St. John. The floral offerings were many and beautiful and the songs very appropriate. Mr. and Mrs. Waller, parents of Mrs. Teurman, reside in Arkansas. Two brothers, Homer and Hershall, also live there. A sister, Mrs. Anna Nichols, is a resident of Temple, Oklahoma. One brother is postmaster at Carter, Oklahoma. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
