(The Sayre Headlight Journal, Sayre, Beckham, OK, Mon 2 Jan 1933) Death Takes County Man. J. T. Tindell, Aged Beckham County Pioneer Died Sunday of Pneumonia. Joshua Taylor Tindell, 79, well known Beckham county pioneer, succumbed to an attack of pneumonia at his home four and one half miles east and one mile south of Sayre Sunday after being ill two weeks. Funeral services will be conducted for him at a Carter church at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Littrell-Moore mortuary of this city has the arrangements. Mr. Tindell, a retired farmer at the time of his death came to Oklahoma from Missouri in the early days. He filed on a homestead southeast of Sayre in 1899 and had lived in this state since that time. He was an ardent worker in the Methodist church having been a member of that church for 50 years. Immediate relatives surviving him are: Mrs Laura Renfroe (sic), daughter of Carter; J. W. Tindell, S. F. Tindell E. I. Tindell of Sayre and T. H. Tindell of New Mexico, sons. Mrs. Susan Martin of Sayre, sister; and J. W. Tindell of Idaho, a brother. Mrs. Calvin Jones of this city is a granddaughter of Mr. Tindell.
