H. Twitty, of Delhi, came last Thursday afternoon before but few of his friends even knew that he was in poor health, and was a decided shock to them. It seems that Mr. Twitty had been suffering with stomach trouble, for some time past, and went to an Elk City hospital, where an operation was decided upon. This was performed on Thursday last, and for a time it was thought that he was coming through it in good shape, but an hour later he collapsed, death following. The operation revealed the fact that he was suffering from an internal cancer. Funeral services were held from the Delhi Baptist church on Friday afternoon, with Rev. B. T. Smith officiating. A very large assemblage of old friends were present, among whom were a considerable number from this city. Mr. Twitty was a pioneer resident of the Delhi section, and one of the leading farmers, as well as owner of a gin, which had given him a very wide acquaintance, he possessing the faculty of making friends and gaining the respect of all with whom he came in contact, and his death is a decided blow to that section, while all Beckham county feels that they have lost a valued citizen.
