VERNON, JOHN PERRY
(2 May 1929, Thursday, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK):
Funeral Services Held In First Christian Church At 3 o'clock
John Perry Vernon died at the family home, 407 N. 6th street, April 30,
1929, at the age of 68 years, 4 months and 14 days.
Funeral services were held at the church of Christ April 30 at 3 p.m. with
Rev. Ed Taylor in charge.  Burial was made in Sayre-Doxey cemetery with
Littrell and Moore in charge.
Mr. Vernon is one of Beckham county's oldest settlers, coming to Oklahoma
in the early days and filing on a homestead where he with his wife and
family resided many years.
A few years ago he moved to Texas and lived there a while.  Becoming
dissatisfied, he moved back to Oklahoma and purchased a home in Sayre
where he was living when the end came.
Mr. Vernon leaves a devoted companion and several children to mourn his
death, besides many friends to share their sorrow.
