(14 Dec 1929, Thursday, Sayre Newspaper, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Death hovered over a local wagon yard December 12 and claimed as its victim late Thursday night, R. A. Walker, 61 years old, who was seriously ill only a few hours prior to his death. Walker came here two days before his death from Shamrock where he had been working for the past few weeks. He with his wife and daughter Mrs. Mary Cox, drove here in a ramshackled Ford truck late Tuesday evening. After getting located Walker began looking for a job but became too ill to work. He had been suffering with Asthma for several years but his condition was not reported serious up until his death. The family is in destitute circumstance was given relief by the county and individuals. Mrs. Walker is too old to work but it is thought that other members of the family will come to her aid. Walker is survived by his wife, his daughter, Mrs. Cox and three sons, Edward, Ernest and Arthur. He also has one sister living, Mrs. Julia Walls of Ada, Oklahoma. Funeral services were held for Walker Friday, December 13, at 2:30 o'clock from the Baptist church.
