(16 Jan 1930, Thursday, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Aged Man Succumbs Early Tuesday After Year of Suffering In Home With Poor Health Funeral services for Ambrose J. Wisdom, 73, who died in his home at 1001 North Broadway, early Tuesday, were conducted at the grave in Port cemetery (Washita County) Tuesday, January 14. Rev. J. H. Burns, pastor of the First Baptist church of Sayre officiated. Littrell-Moore funeral directors were in charge. Mr. Wisdom experienced poor health the past year, death coming early Tuesday after many months of suffering. Besides the many friends Mr. Wisdom is survived by his wife Mrs. Clementine Wisdom and one son, C. G. Wisdom of Sayre. (6 Feb 1930, Thursday, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): A. J. Wisdom departed from this world at 2 o'clock a.m., January 14, 1930. He was born March 7, 1856, in Dallas county, Missouri. He was in poor health for the past seven years. He was converted 30 years ago and united with the Baptist church, and lived a devoted Christian. He came from Kansas to Oklahoma 39 years ago, took up a claim at Port, Oklahoma. Nine years later to Elk City and engaged in hardware and hotel business. When Elk City was a range town misfortunate overtook him when he lost his hotel by fire. Later he drew a claim in the "Little Pasture" near Lone Wolf. Had lived in various places in Oklahoma before locating at Sayre, Okla. He was married to Clementine Gold January 17, 1886. Three children were born to this union, two having passed on. He leaves a wife and one son, Calvin Wisdom of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; two brothers, A. B. Wisdom and J. W. Wisdom of Oklahoma City; one sister, Mr. C. B. Carpenter, Tipton, Missouri, to mourn the loss.
