E. York, born in Stockton, California, on February 11, 1920, died at his home on Second street in Sayre December 19th, 1920, aged 10 months and 8 days. He was buried Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Doxey-Sayre cemetery, Rev. Z. E. Twitty conducting the funeral services. He leaves a father and two brothers. Little Jesse was the nephew of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Sides, who has cared for him since the death of his mother until a few weeks ago. It was to them almost like giving up their own child. The sympathy of the many friends of the bereaved ones goes out to them. A peculiar circumstance attended the funeral Sunday afternoon. Two funerals were scheduled for the same hour, one conducted by the protestants, the other by Catholics. The protestants arriving a few minutes first held their service and while little Jesse York was being buried the Catholics conducted the funeral of Baby Schlecht. The incident only shows the onward march of death. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
