P. Snyder Rites Held Here Tuesday Funeral services for W. P. Snyder, 64-year-old city pioneer who died at local hospital Monday, were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 in the Second and Adams streets Church of Christ with C. E. McGaughey, Oklahoma City, former minister of the local church, and Rev. O. W. Reece, pastor of the First Christian church, officiating. Mr. Snyder died Monday afternoon shortly after being rushed to a local hospital for treatment of a self inflicted bullet wound in his forehead. He had been in ill health for the past few months had been confined to his home, 401 North Main street. Mr. Snyder, a prominent city resident for the past 34 years, was born March 28, 1877, in Missouri. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Clarence Perry of Magenta, Texas. The body lay in state at the Grubitz and Son funeral chapel prior to the services Tuesday. Burial was in the Fairlawn cemetery. The Elk City Journal, Thursday, September 25, 1941 pg 5 OBITUARY William Perry Snyder was born March 28, 1877, in Davis(sic) County, Mo., and died at Elk City, Okla., September 22, 1941. He was the son of George Hopkins Snyder and Henerietta Blakely Snyder and spent his early childhood in Davis(sic) County where his mother died when his was three years of age. With his father he moved to Ray County, Mo., where his later childhood and early manhood were spent. He was married May 9, 1897, to Susan Floura Elliott at Rayville, Mo., to which union three children were born; Raymond Olan Snyder, born January 23, 1904, in Rayville, Mo., and died September 22, 1908, at Elk City, Okla., Ruby Faye Snyder, born July 28, 1910, at Elk City, Okla., and died December 18, 1910, at Elk City; and Wilma Irene Snyder, born also at Elk City. A foster son, Ellis Robert Searcy, was born July 30, 1889, and died on the battle fields in France October 30, 1918, His father and elder brother, John Lawrence Snyder also preceded him in death. Surviving the deceased are his widow, of the home address, and their daughter, Mrs. C. C.
