Was married to Charles Clifner in 1865. To that union were born two sons and one daughter, Charles Clifner, Geo. Clifner, Annie Green. And as the monster of death separ- ated that union, she was married to William Speis in 1871. To hat union, was born one daughter, Mrs. Robertson, all of which re- side in this community except Charley who was last heard of in California. She leaves besides these, to mourn her loss, a dear loving companion, a husband. Death also sep- arates this union and leaves a husband, sons and daughters her going. Carter Express 27 Jan 1928 Mrs. Kathryne Speis, wife of Wm. Speis, died at her home here in Carter on Monday, Jan- uary 16. Grandma Speis, as she was known in Carter, was almost eighty years old and had not been strong for several years. About ten days before her heath she suffered a sever stroke of paralysis, after which she con- tinued to grow worse although everything possible was done for her relief and comfort. Grandma Speis had many friends in Carter as she had been a resident of the town for a number of years, she and her husband ?oving here and enter- ing the mo????????? business when the ??wn was ????? sca??ed, and all deeply sympathize with her grief stricken husband and other relatives. The funeral services were held at the Methodist Church on Tuesday afternoon by Rev. G. W. Graham, Pastor, after which interment was made at the Car- ter cemetery. Carter Express 20 Jan 1928 Mrs. Katheryn Speis was born in Germany, July 29, 1848, died at Carter January 16, 1928 at the age of 79 years, 5 months, 17 days.
