Stuart and Emeline Stuart lived in Beckham County in 1905. The following is a clipping from the Grow Tattler. BURIED ALIVE On Tuesday morning (April 25, 1905) at 3 o'clock, Mr. Stewart (Stuart) who lives two miles north of Grow was killed and his wife seriously hurt by the breaking of the ridge pole, resulting in the dugout falling in on them. Mr. Stewart's body was badly crushed. All the rest of the family escaped unhurt. It took three hours to remove the rubbish from the place. The friends and neighbors than recovered the dugout. Mr. Stewart was buried on Wednesday morning in the Shirley Cemetery, and Presiding Elder Roberts conducted the services. He leaves a wife, five daughters and two sons, one of whom is in Texas. May words of comfort come to the bereaved wife and children. Hope this is of interest to someone. Sincerely, Erma Downey Hadduck, Granddaughter
