Travelstead was born in Sumner County, Tenn., on August 23, 1875. He came to Oklahoma in 1903 and located at Texola, Oklahoma in 1905. He gave his life in Jesus and united with the Baptist Church at Texola in 1906. He was married to Miss Alice Graves in 1907 and to them one son was born. He departed this life April 29, 1939 at his home in Oklahoma City, being 63 years eight months and six days of age. He leaves his wife and son, James Taft of Oklahoma City; four brothers, Wash of McLean, Texas; Jasper of Denver, Colorado; Frank of Gainsville, Texas, Asberry of Portland. Texas (Tenn?). Five sisters, Mrs. Ella Perdue of Beaumont, Texas; Mrs Carrie Ausbrooks of Musle Sholes, Alabama; Mrs. Gussie Perdue of Portland, Tenn. Mrs. Ira Meadows, Clinton, Oklahoma; Mrs. Zella Staggs of Portland, Tenn. He also leaves a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. His father, mother and brother, Lightle, preceded him to the great beyond. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 2, 1939 at Texola Baptist church, Rev. Morris Roe and Rev. D. D. Barber officiating.
