All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************** TRISSEL, SARAH ELIZABETH [LONG] B. 14 Oct 1866 D. 29 Mar 1944 Sayre-Doxey Cemetery Beckkam Co., OK Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Trisell who died at her home northwest of Sayre Wednes- day, were held Sunday afternoon at the First Baptist church with Rev. W. T. Cost officiating. Mrs. Trissel was a pioneer of western Oklahoma and had made her home in the vicinity since 1900. She was a member of the Baptist church and had been active in all church work during her lifetime. She is survived by her daugh-- ter Mrs. Hattie Thetford and five sons. Vern of Willow, Charles of Elk City, John of California, Wal- ter of Sayre and Earl of Oklahoma City. Bearers of the service were Enoch Barker, Homer Bohannan, Grafton Stringer, Clan Fuchs, Riley Grisham and Houston Thompson. Interment was in the Sayre- Doxey cemetery by the Littrell- Scroggins Funeral home. Sayre Sun 6 Apr 1944 Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Long Trissell, 77, was born on October 14, 1866 and departed from this life at 10"35 Wednesday, March 29, 1944 She was married on September 1, 1891 to W. C. Trissell in Dayton, Ohio. To this union were born seven children, one girl and husband, preceeded her in death, The oth- er six are; Vern Trissell of Willow Oklahoma, Charlie Trissell of Elk City, Oklahoma; John Tressell of Linnell, California, Walter Tris- sell of Sayre, Mrs. Hattie Thet- ford of Sayre and Earl Trissell of Oklahoma City. She had thirteen grand children and four great grand children. Only one grand child in the United States Army. She left Ohio in 1895 going to Tennessee and staying two years. >From there they moved to Willow, Oklahoma, where they home- steaded a farm and lived there until 1907. They moved southwest of Sayre where she resided at the time of her death. In July 1940, she was stricken with paralysis.
