(31 Dec 1925, Thursday, Texola Tribune, Texola, Beckham Co, OK): W. E. Lemond died at the home here in Texola on last Monday at 5:30 after an illness of some two weeks. He suffered a second stroke of paralysis about three weeks ago while visiting in his son's home in Erick and when brought here a few days before his death, was suffering intensely and was totally blind. Mr. Lemond suffered his first paralytic stroke about two years ago and had never completely recovered the first shock. At the time of his death he was nearing his 74th birthday. The deceased moved to Texola in 1913 and at that time engaged in the blacksmith business here and remained active in his profession until two years ago. In 1886 he was married to Miss Florence Olivia Clay and to this union were born (no number) children, all of whom survive their father and were present at the funeral. The children are: Clyde, Claude and Cecil of Texola; Clarence of Erick; Mrs. J. W. Tanner, Shamrock; Miss Lillie Lemond, Jacksborro, Texas, and Mrs. Gussie Mitchell, Erick. Other relatives to attend the funeral were Mark and Miss Cora Clay of Jacksborro, Texas and Tom Clay and family of Quail, Tex. The deceased joined the Baptist church in early manhood and remained true to that faith until death. His body was laid to rest in the Texola cemetery Wednesday afternoon, Rev. N. C. Danner, pastor of the Baptist church, conducting the funeral services. The Tribune joins with the many friends here in extending sympathy to the bereaved family. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
