All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ********************************************************************* MORGAN, FRANCES ELIZABETH MORGAN, JOHN BARNETT (21 Jan 1926, Thursday, Texola Tribune, Texola, Beckham Co, OK): This community was shocked by the sudden death of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. (sic) Morgan who resided near Erick, Oklahoma, and who were well known in this community. They were both stricken with pneumonia. Mrs. Morgan died on last Friday afternoon and the husband died Sunday morning at six o'clock. Funeral services were conducted at the first Baptist church in Erick at 2:30 p.m., Monday afternoon, Rev. George C. Hutto, their pastor, speaking the last works. They were both devout Christians and were consecrated members of the Erick Baptist Church. The many friends here of Mr. and Mrs. Morgan extend sympathy to the bereaved family. (21 Jan 1926, Erick Newspaper, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): On Monday of this week at one o'clock P.M. one of the largest gatherings in the history of Erick assembled at the Baptist Tabernacle to pay their last respects to Brother and Sister Morgan who the Grim Reaper had just taken from our community. John Barnet Morgan was born January 13th, 1862, in White County, Arkansas, died January 17th, 1926. Bro. Morgan was married to Miss Frances Elizabeth (Bettie) Rouse, March 12th, 1883, in Collins County, Texas. To this union sixteen children were born, of which four pair were twins, eight boys and eight girls. Eight of the children preceeded their parents in death. All of the living children were present at the time of their deaths. Besides the children he leaves to mourn his loss twenty grand children, two brothers and two half brothers, he being the youngest of the five. Bro. Morgan professed faith in Christ about fourteen years ago, and united with the Erick Baptist church about four years ago. The Morgan family has resided in the Erick community nineteen years and have made a host of friends who extend the hand of sympathy to all the bereaved family and relatives. Frances Elizabeth (Bettie) Morgan was born in Tennessee, May 13th, 1865, and died at her home near Erick January 15th, 1926, being 61 years, 8 months and 2 days of age. Besides the eight living children she leaves to mourn her loss three sisters who were unable to get here, and a host of friends and relatives. Sister Morgan professed faith in Christ early in life and united with the Erick Baptist Church seventeen years ago. She was a good mother and a consecrated christian. This beloved couple were laid to rest in the Erick Cemetery, both bodies lowered in the same grave, services were in charge of the Mason Lodge, assisted by the Fatheree Undertaking Establishment. CARDS OF THANKS We wish to express our thanks for the kindness extended us through the sickness and death of our dear father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Morgan, who have been called home.
