Bobby Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery under the Direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City. Avertine Woodruff was born October 7, 1918 to Lewis H. and Maude L. Huckleby in Palestine, Texas and Died Thursday at the age of 79. She moved with her parents to Oklahoma where she lived the rest of her life. She was a member of the Mr. Carmel Baptist Church. She was President of Mission and the Mother of Church until her illness. She was united in marriage to Arthur Eugene Crawford in 1932 and to this union three children were born, Floydene Hughes, Arthur Eugene Crawford and Ernest Lee Crawford. Later she married Virgie Collins in 1940 and to this union was born a son; Johnny Collins and in 1971 was married to U. S. Woodruff. She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; one son, one daughter; and one sister. Survivors include; her sons, Ernest Crawford and his wife, Christine of Elk City, and Johnny L. Collins Sr. and his wife Ora Mae of Pittsburg, California; one sister, Ruby D. Jackson of Elk City; one brother, Ernest L. Huckleby of Alamagordo, New Mexico, 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and countless friends. Eck City Daily News 25 Feb 1998.
