The telegram stated Sidney Benson (grandson and nephew of above named) had been accidentally killed. Sidney accompanied by his father and mother visited these relatives here in August last. Miss Blossie Ewton went with them to Mexico, where they visited his father's parents also other relatives. He was an only child and had a host of friends in Kingfisher and surrounding towns, as he was raised from infancy to manhood there. He had charge of his fathers farms while his father was a real estate agent in Kingfisher. His bereaved ones have the sympathy of all. (7 Nov 1924, Beckham County Newspaper, Beckham Co, OK): We were sorry to hear of the death of Sidney Benson of Kingfisher, Oklahoma. Mrs. Joe Ewton received the telegram stating it was by accident. Mr. Ewton of Sayre, Mr. and Mrs. Ragan and Mrs. Will Klopfeinlin of Berlin attended the funeral. We are all in sympathy with the bereaved ones, as he will be greatly missed as he was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Benson. He leaves a young wife to mourn his loss. (13 Nov 1924, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. Joe Ewton, Mrs. Klopfenstein, Mr. and Mrs. Ragain, returned from Kingfisher where they attended the funeral of Sidney Benson. He and his wife were alone, she had been standing by him while he was working with the light plant, so when he was ready to put to top on, she went to get the mail. Had just sat down to read her letters the carrier left, when she heard an explosion, the plant exploded underground. She hurried to him. He was face downward. She phoned for help, then sat down on the ground, putting Sidney's head in her lap, trying to bring him to life. His father and mother were there in a very short time, also friends and neighbors. But when the doctor came he said death was instantly. His nose, shoulder and arm were all broken and he was very badly bruised, but looked more natural when undertakers had dressed him. There was a very large crowd at the funeral. His wife and parents certainly have the sympathy of all their friends.
