Mr. Bentley, it is stated, was shot by his stepdaughter, during a family altercation. We understand that the girl alleges that he was attacking her mother when she drew a gun and began shooting. Bentley was shot several times and only lived till the next morning. Both of the women, it is said, were shot, supposedly by accident when Mr. Bentley attempted to take the gun away from the young woman. The corpse was shipped to Carter and interment took place at the Carter cemetery Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Bentley had relatives residing in this part of the country among whom was Mrs. Dude Henson, a sister. Lee McDonald and wife of Wichita Falls came up and were present at the funeral, Mrs. McDonald being a sister of the deceased. Mr. Bentley had formerly lived here, he having filed on the farm that the town of Carter is not situated on. He had many friends in these parts who were grieved to hear of his sudden and tragic death. CARD OF THANKS. We want to thank our friends and neighbors for their dear words of sympathy and deeds of kindness shown us in the death and burial of our dear brother. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. McDonald Mr. and Mrs. Dude Henson Mrs. Scott, and also the absent brothers and sisters.
