Grandma VanVacter received a telephone message from the depot Monday night, that the body of Morgan Blevins, was passing through Elk City to Erick. He was a traveling man in Kansas, and in company with another gentleman was in a auto, which was struck by a train, causing the death of both of the men. Morgan Blevins was at one time an employee for N. B. Utt in this city and had a large circle of friends who are very sorry indeed to hear of his untimely death. He was about twenty-five years of age. His old home was at Sweetwater, and it is supposed that the remains were taken to that place for burial. (8 Oct 1915, The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK): Morgan Blevins a young man who formerly lived five miles south of Elk City, and was employed for some time at the Utt hardware store at Elk City, was killed in a automobile accident in Kansas, Monday. Two other men were killed at the same time. The accident happened at a railroad crossing, a train striking the car, and it is stateed (sic) that the depot obstructed the view so that the train was not seen by the men until they were near the track, the driver becoming excited killed his engine right on the track, when the train crashed into it, killing all three of the occupants outright. Mr. Blevens (sic) was very well known throughout the county and his many friends will sorely regret to here (sic) of the sad accident. His remains were shipped back to this county for burial, his parents are residing near Sweetwater at the present time. The funeral took place Tuesday evening at the Buffalo cemetery near Sweetwater. B. B. VanVacter and daughter Miss Mabian, and E. C. Fields attended from Carter, Mr. VanVacter and Miss Mabian having been special friends of Mr. Blevins.
