(10 Apr 1924, The Sayre Journal, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. John Winburn received the sad news of the instant death of her brother, Otis Brewer, who just recently moved to Huntington Beach, Calif. They have not received details about the death except that while riding his motorcycle there was some accident which crushed his skull. His parents Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Brewer, who reside in Dempsey have made preparations for burial there, the body is expected Tuesday evening. Our heartfelt sympathy and condolence are extended to the bereaved family. Now that death has wrapped her robe of eternal sleep about him, we can only say, "Thy will be done." (17 Apr 1924): We spoke last week of the death of Otis Brewer of California. The later news says he was accidently hurt with a motor cycle. He had started to town to get his lunch. That morning he had started to work for an oil company. There was no eye witnesses to tell how he got hurt. He had a meal ticket on his body when found and was identified by his cousin Lloyd Brewer, who was taking his meals at the same place where Otis was going to. His brother Bert Brewer was sent for at once and he was taken to the Hospital. He never did regain consciousness. This happened Saturday noon April 5th and he died that night at 10 o'clock. He was brought home for burial. His brother and wife accompanied the remains. His broken hearted mother and father and brothers met the train at Sayre, Wednesday night. He was buried in the Dempsey Cemetery. Otis was born July 3, 1902 and was 21 yrs 9 months and five days old. He was born and raised near Grimes, Okla. He leaves his parents, five brothers and three sisters (all were present for the funeral) and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his death.
