Brower. Early in the evening the lad rode out into a stalk field to round up and lot the cows. Mr. Brower was away from home when the lad started, but an hour later returned and learning that the boy had been gone an unusual length of time went in search of him. Entering the field the father saw the pony grazing on the opposite side and rode direct to it, and discovered his son lying unconscious on the ground, a few yards distant from the pony. The father carried the injured boy to the home and called a physician, but the boy never regained consciousness and died Saturday evening. Funeral was held from the residence of the parents, Monday, 19th inst. Interment in Doxey cemetery. How the accident happened is shrouded in mystery, but the concensus (sic) of opinion is the pony stumbled and fell, pinioning the boy to the earth. The fact that the breast of the deceased was crushed indicates that the opinion is well founded. (24 Dec 1910, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Last week the eleven year old son of V. L. Brower was sent to the pasture to bring in the milk cows. Failing to put in an appearance his people went out to look for him and found him lying in the field unconcious (sic). He was taken to the house and medical attendance was called at once. He remained unconcious (sic) over 18 hours when it was thought there was hope for his recovery but he failed to rally sufficiently and died Saturday evening at 5 p.m. Mrs. Brower is heartbroken over the loss and is reported seriously ill.
