Clarence Brown was struck by lightning yesterday and killed. He had been rounding up a small stack of grain and had just placed the pitchfork in the top of it, when a bolt struck him, tearing his face and body, causing instant death. He fell upon his face, and was dead when his friends, who were only a few yards away, got to him. Clarence was one of the noblest of men, and his death has cast a gloom over the face of a multitude. He worked in Hammon from its beginning until last spring when he moved to his farm east of town. He leaves a wife and three children. The W.O.W. Lodge met last night and after draping the lodge room in mourning they voted to send a member with the corpse, while J. G. Potts goes along with the family. The lodge went in a body to the residence this morning and accompanied the remains of their beloved Sovereign to the depot here, and the remains were taken to Sedalia, Mo., on the 11:45 train. - Hammon Advocate.
