(21 Jul 1921, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): BROTHER KILLED IN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT. Mrs. S. F. Pruett received word the first of the week that her brother C. W. Carpenter had been killed. She visited him over a year ago and it was the first time she had met him in twenty-one years. The Fort Worth Star Telegram of Tuesday, the 19th, has the following in about the accident: Aged Man is Killed as Car Overturns. C. W. Carpenter, 71, 1206 Richmond Ave., was killed almost instantly when an automobile of which he was an occupant, overturned on a country road near Granbury, Sunday afternoon. The accident occurred when a wheel came off the car. Two other passengers in the machine were also injured in the accident. Carpenter's funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon from the residence of his daughter, Mrs. H. F. Ammons, with whom he made his home. (Research: Texas Death Index: 1903-2000: C. W.
