Frank Caudle arrived in Sayre Tuesday evening to attend the funeral of his brother, Sterling Caudle, who was murdered early Sunday morning. Caudle flew by plane from his home in Los Angeles, California. He left Los Angeles at 8:30 Monday morning and arrived in Sayre at 5:50 Tuesday evening. Caudle is connected with the Air mail service. He will return to his home Thursday. Caudle (Sterling) was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Green Caudle of 1303 Broadway. He was married and had two small children. Caudle had been employed as an electrician for B. B. Richerson. Arrangements for the funeral services have not been made as relatives are waiting on a brother of Caudill's (sic) who is in California. A preliminary hearing is being held in Sayre today in an effort to discover the murder of Caudle. Thirty negroes were held in the county jail Sunday but were released until the Monday hearing. According to Bill Walker, deputy sheriff the negros (sic) all told the same stories when questioned Sunday. They said that the murderer was not a colored man. Immediately after the murder the negros left the dance hall and went to a building about a mile away, officer Hollis said that they were all congregated in this building when the officers found them later on in the morning.
