In an effort to head off the car they cut across to the Postal Highway near Weatherford. About that time an auto came along which bore a general description of the car sought, and they ordered the driver to stop, but instead of complying he attempted to get-away, and a shot from one of the officers caused a halt, after which it was found that the young man had been shot through the head. He was rushed to a local hospital. The young man was identified as a man named Dalton, residing in the vicinity of Carter, and relatives were notified of his condition. Investigation brought out the fact that the car the young man was driving was not the car stolen from Cordell, but had in fact been stolen at Elk on Saturday night.
