V. DUREE DIES FROM HIS INJURIES. Last Thursday afternoon, A. V. Duree of the Taylor neighborhood, came to Elk City, and was having some repair work done on his car. They had his car tied to another car, pulling it along up Broadway. Mr. Duree was in the front car, and when he saw the car behind him was going all right, he started to step out. He fell to the pavement in front of the second car which ran over him, injuring him so seriously that from the first his life was despaired of. He was taken to the home of his son, Jack Duree on Fifth street, where everything possible was done for him. He realized his serious condition and told his friends so. He lingered until Sunday evening, when he passed away. The body was taken to the Grubitz Undertaking rooms to be prepared for burial and on Monday afternoon was taken in their motor hearse to the Ural cemetery where a large crowd had gathered to pay their last respects to a good neighbor and true friend. Mrs. Duree, the wife has been very ill for several weeks with typhoid fever, and was unable to attend the funeral services. Mr. Duree was nearly fifty-seven years of age, and was a most devoted husband and father, a good christian man, being a member of the Church of Christ. His neighbors speak nothing but praise of him and he had many friends, all who deeply deplore the accident that caused his death. Mr. Duree had lived out here nearly nineteen years, going through the hardships of the early frontier days, and was the possessor of a fine farm. He was a brother of A. F. Duree of this city. The deceased leaves a wife and six children, C. L., J. E., H. O., S. E., Winnie and Della Duree. The News-Democrat extends deepest sympathy to the bereaved ones in their great loss, in which all their many friends join with us.
