(10 Oct 1929, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Mack Elliott, 27, formerly of Sayre died at 2 o'clock Monday morning at a Clinton hospital as a result of injuries received Sunday night while driving a car near the railway junction at Clinton. Elliott suffered a crushed skull with an arm broken in two places. He was brought to the hospital unconscious by H. W. Curtis of Clinton. Curtis is being held by the Custer county officers for investigation in connection with the tragedy. Curtis and Roy Walker, Clinton, were drinking. Walker got out of the car before Elliott was taken to the hospital. Curtis claimed that he did not know what happened. The car, a Dodge, had evidently been sideswiped by another car. It is thought that Elliott was hanging out of the car and was injured in that manner. He was in the driver's seat when the fatal injury occurred. The driver of the car that sideswiped the Dodge did not stop. Coroner at Clinton was to complete the investigation by Monday. Body of the victim of the accident will be brought to Sayre for burial. (16 Oct 1929, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Funeral services were held for Mack Elliott, victim of an automobile accident near Clinton Monday, at the Christian church, Tuesday, October 8 at 2:30 p.m. Elliott was killed as a car sideswiped the car he was driving. It is thought that he was leaning out of his car at the time of the accident. His head was crushed by the blow. Elliott was a former resident of Sayre and was a nephew of Mrs. Jesse Barbre of Sayre. Interment was in the Sayre Doxey Cemetery, Rev. A. J. Bradshaw officiated.
