(22 Oct 1920, The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK): Killed in Wreck. Mr. J. T. Estes of Goliad, Tex., who had been up here visiting at the home of his stepson, Mr. E. J. Davis, was killed on Tuesday night of last week in a railroad wreck near Henrietta, Texas, while returning to his home at Goliad. Mr. Estes had chartered an emigrant car and was riding in the car at the time of the wreck looking after a horse that he thought a great deal of, and while he was killed in the wreck the horse was not injured. Mr. Davis left Sunday for Goliad to attend to some business matters that Mr. Estes left. While Mr. Estes was visiting in Carter he made a number of warm friends who regret exceedingly to hear of his sudden and tragic death. We have not learned any of the particulars as to the cause of the wreck. (Research: Census, 1920, Texas, Goliad Co, Goliad (town), ED 73, pg 4A, #68/74 (T625-1807): John T.
