Madeline Ford, 9 years old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Ford, died at St. Paul Sanitarium as a result of burns received when her clothing caught fire from the flame of a gas stove at her home Saturday morning. Madeline and her twin sister a few days ago took part in the play of "Cinderella" at the Sam Houston school, and she was showing a neighbor girl how she looked in her costume when her skirt caught fire. The above was from the Dallas News of Monday. The little girl was a niece of Mrs. O. H. Young, of Elk city, and she received word Saturday afternoon of the tragedy, though she did not know then how it happened. Her brother, and father of the little girl is Walter Othella Ford, and is assistant cashier of the Reserve Bank of Dallas. H. C. Ford of Granite, a brother of W. O., left for Dallas to attend the funeral of the little girl. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
