Glass of Stratford, Oklahoma was seriously hurt in a car accident last Friday which occurred near the Mayfield cemetery, when a car driven by A. G. Gillum collided with the rear end of a truck parked in the road without tail lights. Mr. Gillum did not see the truck until he was in a few feet of same, as a heavy snow was falling making visibility very poor. Mr. Glass was under the rear of the truck and was apparently removing a chain from the spare wheel, as he had taken the padlock from the spare and had put it in his coat pocket. He was caught between the bumper and spare wheel from which he received internal injuries. Mr. Gillum, G. D. Fatheree and W. J. Pennington who were with him assisted the injured man into their car and brought him to the Erick hospital, where he died at 10:45, Friday night. E. E. Glass was 54 years of age, and leaves a wife and 5 grown children to mourn his untimely death. The remains were prepared for shipment by D. G. Fatheree, and accompanied by the deceased's brother, W. W. Glass, were taken to Stratford, Oklahoma, where interment was made. Mr. Glass stated before he died, that he had plenty of time to get out of the way, but he presumed that the car coming was one that was supposed to be following him to the gin.
