(23 Oct 1930, Thursday, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Stephen L. Goldsmith, 50, was found dead in his car at the family home 3 miles west and one mile north of Delhi, Friday morning, October 17. Death came suddenly for Goldsmith some time Friday morning. He left his bed a little after sun up and went to his car parked near the house. When Goldsmith failed to appear for breakfast the family became worried and began searching for him. He was found in the back seat of his car dead. A local physician was summoned but Goldsmith had been dead for several hours when he arrived. Death was attributed to heart failure. Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church at Delhi Saturday afternoon October 18, at 2:30 o'clock with Rev. Collins officiating. Interment was made in the Delhi cemetery under the direction of Killough Hullum funeral home. Goldsmith was born January 3, 1880, in Fallsville, Arkansas. He has been a resident of the Delhi community for the past three years.
