HANCE, NOVELLA
(4 Feb 1926, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK):
A very sad accident happened to several residents of the Mt. Carmel
community when the Buick car of George W. Gray skidded about fifty feet
and turned over.  The occupants of the car were enroute to points in Texas
to attend a family reunion and birthday celebration.  In the party were
Mr. and Mrs. Geo. W. Gray, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Strickland and Mrs. Jewel
Hance and baby.
They were nearing Electra, Texas, on last Saturday when the untimely
incident occurred.  The baby of Mrs. Hance was crushed internally with
very little hope for recovery, and later the little tot was given back to
God who gave it.  Mrs. Hance also received injuries.  Mr. Strickland and
Mrs. Gray were slightly bruised and Mr. Gray and Mrs. Strickland received
minor injuries from this accident.  They were taken to an Electra Hospital
where they were cared for.  The corpse of the Hance baby was brought here
Wednesday.  Time of the funeral has not been announced.
