(12 Nov 1914, Sayre Standard, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): RUNAWAY ACCIDENT RESULTS FATALLY TO S. J. HARDY. S. J. Hardy, a farmer living in the Sweetwater country in Roger Mills county, was the victim of a runaway accident last Monday afternoon which resulted in his death at about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. Mr. Hardy was driving to Sayre with a load of broom corn and was within a mile of town when his team became frightened at a motorcycle and ran away. Mr. Hardy was thrown from the load of broom corn and fell under the wheels. His right arm and left leg were broken in several places and his head was badly cut. He was brought to Sayre and carried to the office of Dr. McDonald and later to a room at the Palace rooming house, where he died Tuesday morning. Mr. Hardy had been living with his daughter, Mrs. Aber, his wife having died several years ago.
