HARKINS, GENEVA CHRISTINE
(5 Aug 1929, Monday, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK):
Tragedy stalked into the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Harkins when Christine,
their 16 months old daughter was drowned in a cement tank at the Harkins
home, five and one-half miles from Sayre, Saturday.
The child was playing in the yard and somehow or other got into the tank
which contained about 16 inches of water.  She had been in the water for
about ten minutes when the parents found her.
In spite of the fact that medical assistance was obtained promptly and
resuccitation measures were used they were unable to revive the baby.
Christine was born March 7, 1928.  Mr. and Mrs. Roy Harkins, parents, and
two sisters survive.
Funeral services were held Sunday evening at the First Christian church of
Sayre at 2:30 o'clock.  Rev. A. J. Bradshaw officiated.
Interment was in the Sayre-Doxey cemetery.  Littrell and Moore were in
charge of funeral arrangements.
