R. Haws, nine miles south of Foss, when his son, Albert Royce, aged 4 years, 4 months and 4 days, fell into a vat of boiling water, sustaining burns which caused his death two and a half hours later. Mr. Haws was not at home at the time of the sad affair, being at a neighbor's assisting in building a barn. J. W. McNatt and B. Johnson, were at his place killing hogs, and had scalded two when the boy neared the vat. Mr. McNatt saw the little fellow and started toward him, but before he could reach him he had fallen into the pot of boiling water. The boy was immediately taken from the vat, but had already received burns which were too severe for his little body. A physician soon arrived but all efforts to save the young life were of no avail. The body was terribly burned, but the face was not marked. The funeral services was conducted Saturday afternoon by Rev. J. L. Joyner of Foss. Mr. Haws and family have the deepest sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement. Foss Enterprise.
