(25 Oct 1928, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Perry Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Johnson, 402 West Broadway, died in the Graham Hospital, at Canton, Ill., October 17, from injuries received in a automobile wreck which occurred October 4. He was selling subscriptions for a national circulating company and had worked in eastern, northern, and midwestern states for the last six months. He was returning from Canton, Ill., to Peoria, after working all day in Canton. It was almost dark and raining when the car in which they were riding skidded from the payment and in an effort to get back onto the payment the car overturned. The driver received a broken collarbone and another member of the party suffered internal injuries. Perry did not show his injury until he had cared for those who were with him. He fainted at the hospital where he remained until his death, October 17. He did not inform the hospital officials of his home or parents. The body was shipped to Elk City and funeral services were held Saturday, October 20, at the Baptist church at 2:00 p.m. Rev. H. W. Shirley officiating at the services. Interment was made at Fairlawn cemetery with Gentry-Killough in charge. The deceased was born near Cheyenne, Okla., January 19, 1907. He died at Canton, Ill., October 17, 1928, at the age of 21 years, 8 months and 28 days.
