(13 Oct 1905, Sayre Newspaper, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. Crady Suicides. Just as we go to press we learn that Mrs. Crady (sic), who lives just north of town, committed suicide about 9 o'clock this morning by hanging herself. The children of whom there were three, had gone to school, and Mr. Crady was temporarily absent from the house, when she shut herself in the chicken house and ended her life. Mrs. Crady had returned only yesterday from Kansas City, where she had been for some time undergoing medical treatment. Her mind was unbalanced at times, and it is supposed that it was so when she committed the rash act. Weary of life that was filled with sickness and suffering so intense as to derange her mind, to her no doubt death seemed a relief. Let charity deal gently with her memory, for are we not told that "not a sparrow falleth to the ground but our Heavenly Father sees it." (19 Oct 1905, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. J. Kready committed suicide last Friday morning by hanging herself. She had been in poor health for several years and had just returned from Kansas City, where she had been taking treatment and was pronounced much better, and while the family were temporarily absent Friday morning took the above method of ending her suffering. (19 Oct 1905, Thursday, Elk City Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Judge Andrews, of Sayre, 'phoned Dr. H. Riley, the coroner, last Friday of the finding of Mrs. Crady hanging in an out-house at her home north of Sayre. Dr. Riley instructed Judge Andrews to hold an inquest over the body if circumstances warranted such investigation. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
