CLARK, BEN
(15 Mar 1905, Wednesday, Elk City Record, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK):
Ben Clark was Killed by Custer County Officers Early Thursday Morn.
Ben Clark, a young man, was killed by officers at Yankee Front, near
Hammon, in the north part of the county, early Thursday morning, last.  It
seems that Clark resisted arrest and opened fire on the officials with a
pistol; the officers responded with the result that the young man was
killed.
Justice Cassady and County Attorney Hendrix went over from Cheyenne, and
held an inquest and preliminary trial, finding as above related, and
acquitting the officers of any blame in the matter.
