All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ********************************************************************* LONG, LEONARD (21 Oct 1929, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Lenard (sic) Long, 14, of LeFors, Texas, was found dead in an overturned car near Coton's (sic) Store 20 miles northwest of Sayre at 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning. Long and his nephew Bedie Long, 5, were on their way to LeFors. They had been to get some clothes from an aunt living near Erick. Young Bedie says, "A Chevrolet car hit us and turned our car over." The boys were driving a new Ford sedan. Long was crushed about the head and shoulders and young Bedie received a bad break in the left leg just above the knee. Bedie says, "The first thing I knew I was in the ditch, and I couldn't walk." He seems to be having a big time in the hospital and doesn't mind being there. Long's body was taken to Erick and arrangement of the funeral has not yet been made. (24 Oct 1929, Thursday, Erick Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): ONLY 14 YEARS OF AGE. Leonard Long of LaForce, Texas, who has been visiting in the Sweetwater community was instantly killed in a car accident which happened near the Cotton store, last Saturday.
