His arm was amputated last Sunday at Cheyenne. It was thought that he was in a fair way to recover, until blood poison set in, after which his physicians could do nothing to save his life. His body was brought to Sayre Wednesday and will be buried in the Doxey cemetery this afternoon. We are informed he had $3,000 life insurance in the Mutual Life of New York. He leaves a wife and several small children. (8 Dec 1905, Sayre Standard, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Henry Madoux died Tuesday night at Cheyenne from blood poisoning as a result of the gun-shot wound received at the hands of Elmer Vance here a week before. He had been taken to Cheyenne under arrest for complicity in the killing of Walter Shehan. The injury was in his right hand, and one finger had been amputated here the evening the shooting occurred. Soon after he was taken to Cheyenne the wound began to show signs of blood poisoning, and another finger was taken off. This did not check it, and his arm was taken off below the shoulder, in an attempt to save his life. It was of no avail, however, and he died Tuesday night. Henry Madoux was about 40 years old, and lived on a farm 4 miles from Sayre. He leaves a wife and several children. He had taken out a policy for $3000 a few months ago in the New York Life. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
