Apparently buried alive as he slept in cottonseed at a oil mill two weeks ago, the body of Robert Martin, 18 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Martin of southwest of Hobart, was discovered. Box Tennyson, employee of the Baker Cotton Oil Mill company discovered the body at about 5 o'clock, while he was taking seed from the building. When the body was extricated, it was found to be badly decomposed, leading to the assumption that it had been buried there ever since October, when the seed was placed there. Letters found in his pockets, however, led to his identification and proved the body had been buried only two weeks. Martin is survived by his parents, two brothers and five sisters. Services were held Sunday both at Hobart and at Retrop (Washita County) where the body was interred. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
