(31 Aug 1924, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): CLINTON UNDERTAKER COMMITS SUICIDE Chas. McKinney (sic), the undertaker at Clinton committed suicide Sunday afternoon. Family trouble seemed to be the cause. He made all preparations to die, writing several letters then going to his establishment where he called his partner over telephone to come to store, after which he laid himself on the slab in the undertaking room where they prepare bodies for burial, pulled a sheet up over him and took a dose of carbolic acid, having before placed vaseline on face to keep the carbolic acid from burning. When his partner went to the building which was immediately, Mr. McKinney was dead. (Census, 1920, Oklahoma, Custer County, Clinton, ED 218, pg 5B, #115/116 (T625-1461): 313 South 9th Street: C.
