The mutilated body was brought to Elk City to the undertaking parlors of Grubitz & son. The names "Dewey McMillan, Dennison, Texas" was found in a note book in the young man's pocket, also an army identification tag bearing the name "Chatwick", which was supposed to be the young man's name. A telegram was sent to Dewey McMillan, Dennison, Texas, but no such person was found there; however a sister living there, learned of the telegram and got into connection with the father at Fort Worth, Texas, who wired for a description of the young man. Confident that it was his son, he in company with another son living at Paoli, Okla., came to Elk City and identified the body as his son. The body was sent to Paoli, Okla., Sunday for burial. Young McMillan who was twenty-two years old had been working in the elevator at Shamrock and presumably had started back home. He leaves a father, three brothers and a sister to mourn his untimely death. (2 Mar 1922, Thursday, Erick Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Young Man Killed By Train Word was received in Erick Monday, stating that a young man, by the name of McMillan, was killed, Thursday night, by a Rock Island train, near Doxey, Oklahoma. It is reported that he was stealing a ride and how the accident happened will never be known. He wore an army badge which proved not to be his and in his pockets a note book was found which contained three names and addresses. The authorities wired each of these and received a telegram, Saturday, from his parents, of Ft. Worth, Texas, stating that they would come after the body immediately.
