They had quite a lot of purchases piled in front of the back seat and the little fellow was sitting on top of them; just after passing the Chenney Store, the door came open and he fell out rolling under the rear wheel which passed over his stomach. They were driving very slowly - had they been going faster he would have probably fell clear of the wheels. He was picked up and carried into the Chenney Store and medical aid was summoned, but to no avail as he passed into unconsciousness in a few minutes and died in about a half an hour. It was one of those unforeseeable accidents in which none are to blame that sometimes happen but this makes the loss no less heavy on the grief stricken parents. After the death the body was taken to the home of Zack Funderburg. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. O. R. Reeder at the Erick Cemetery, at which place interment was made. The parents and the family have the sympathy of all our people in their sad bereavement. --- J. I. Downs and family attended the funeral of Mr. Minor's child at the Erick cemetery Sunday. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
