All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ********************************************************************* MURPHY, AUBREY (17 Sep 1914, Sayre Standard, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): During the electrical storm which passed over the western part of Beckham county last Sunday afternoon, Aubrey Murphy, the sixteen-year-old son of B. F. Murphy, who lives northwest of Sayre, was struck by lightning and instantly killed. The young man, together with several others, had taken refuge in the Murphy barn during the storm, when lightning struck the building and the barn and contents was totally destroyed. Another young man named Wiley, who was sitting close to Murphy, was severely injured but will recover. The funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon and the remains laid at rest in the Delhi cemetery.
