All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ************************************************ NICHOLS, JESSIE LEE (27 Nov 1930, Thursday, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Car Pins Young Nichols Underneath When It Upsets In Making Sharp Corner Jessie L. Nichols, Sayre man, was fatally injured when his car overturned while enroute to Pampa, Texas, Saturday night where he with his cousin, Jimmie Proctor, of Cement, were going to spent the night with relatives. Nichols was pinned beneath the car which overturned while making a quick turn around a sharp corner in the road about 12 miles east of Pampa. He was rushed to the hospital at Pampa where he died immediately. Proctor was thrown clear of the car and was injured. A Sayre ambulance was summoned and the body was returned here, Saturday night. Young Nichols was born at Violet Springs, Oklahoma, on April 16, 1903 and died at the hospital in Pampa at 7 o'clock Saturday night. He was 27 years, eight months and six days old at the time of his death. He moved to Sayre with his father and mother in early life and had lived here ever since. The deceased is survived by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Nichols and four sisters and three brothers. The sisters are Lucille Nichols and Mrs. Earl Hill of Sayre; Mrs. Eva Robbins of Pampa, Texas; and Mrs. Dora Hayden of Tulsa. The brothers are Hale and Henry Nichols of Pampa and Glendale Nichols of Sayre. Funeral services were held at the family home in Sayre at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon with Rev. T. N. Weeks, officiating.
