(11 May 1922, Thursday, Erick Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Bad Accident Near Cheyenne M. C. Nichols was killed and J. R. Fitzwater was scalped yesterday morning when the motor car on which they were riding jumped the rails and was ditched. Cooper and Newby, two other men who were also on the car, escaped uninjured. The accident happened between Cheyenne and Strong City and it is reported the car was going so fast that when it hit curve it jumped the rails. Nichols, who lived two hours was taken to Clinton, and Fitzwater, who will recover from his injuries was taken to the home of his father-in-law, John Ragain in Strong City. - Cheyenne Star.
